What would it look like for a church to take what was preached each week and actually, as a church, apply it to their lives in tangible ways? This is a patently obvious question yet I don't think we often think about it. When we talk about being doers of the Word, the “we,“ needs to be plural. So much of the New Testament is written with the plural “you” in view meaning that so many of the applications we take as personal in our personal walks with Christ are to be corporately applied. This whole idea necessitates that Sunday morning actually teaches the Bible with Christians as the prime audience. It necessitates that the church be invested in some kind of small group set up that is mandatory for membership. It necessitates that these said small groups discuss how to apply the message the was just corporately heard. And finally it necessitates that these groups actually see changed lives as they hold one another accountable to the Word they just heard. Pretty straightforward. The question I ponder is what other method really provides this opportunity?
