I just caught up to this one. The whole seeker sensitive, church business marketing, felt needs focus churches is something I have never experienced directly. Except maybe in highschool and college when I avoided church and only went to those youth groups or intervarsitiy fellowships. Those left me with a very inflated sense of self esteem and even a mocking tone towards God. Holy spirits annoyingly strong tug brought me into a calvary chapel in Point Loma where preaching of the gospel with biblical authority was what helped wake me up by convicting me and challenging me to repent. I will demand the same from you as you request.
Conversations in small group bible studies about the gospel were an important tool of conviction as well though. So was having some of my needs met by giving Christians and freindly relationships. These are important but you and Peter make the case for a biblical authoriy smackdowns at the pulpit as a central focus of a church community that will keep these other areas honest and sex marketing free.
I thought of these blog posts by tim keller as I listened to this sermon : http://redeemercitytocity.com/blog/view.jsp?Blog_param=44

One suggestion or request: The capitalism works and socialism doenst thing makes for great dinner table conversation, but unless you are able to really defend the claim that capitalism works and explain what "works" entails, than I suggest leaving it out of the sermons. I would say neither work but lets save that discussion for a dinner date

The book Streams of Living Water: Essential Practices from the Six Great Traditions of Christian Faith by Richard Foster has as one of the traditions- Evangelical. This section of the book confirmed and supported your sermos discussions of Peter's sermon and the need for gospel preaching as the center of the church. He also presents an interesting discussion of Augustine, Peter, and Billy Graham as examples of the evangelical tradition. So you might want to check it out. Great book overall.

Praying our clothing labels involves looking at clothing labels when we buy items - whether we buy them new at department stores or used as thrift or consignment shops - and then praying for the persons who had a role in creating the item or getting it to the store at which we are buying it. We can also pray our clothing labels every time we get dressed by looking at the label and praying for the persons involved in its creation. We pray for the people who create and distribute the clothing we wear that they may be safe, that they may be recognized as humans who have an inherent dignity because of their creation in the image and likeness of The Creator, that they may be paid a just wage so that they can provide for their families, and that they may feeasdfl God's comfort and love in all areas of their lives.
